Why not explore with us the possibilities of planning your own business or leisure event to coincide with one of the Cote d'Azur spectacles.Monaco Grand Prix Monaco is unique, and to many the annual blast round the streets of the tiny principality represents the jewel in the crown of Formula One. With its legendary casino, Monaco is a glamorous place that lies at the very heart of the jet-set.It is also unique in that for many of the drivers of the race it is run on their doorstep, with the same street they use for a daily trip to the newsagents. Winding through the streets it is a circuit that has remained remarkably unchanged since the first race was staged in 1929. Cannes Film Festival Every May directors, producers, film moguls, stars and starlets, together with 2,500 journalists from all over the globe, descend on Cannes - The Festival International du Cinema in Cannes is second only to Hollywood's Oscars ceremony in the film world's calendar. This glamorous festival, which awards the coveted Palme d'Or for best film, was first held in 1946, but continued to suffer from being overshadowed by the Bienale Festival in Venice for the first few years. Its breakthrough came in the 1950s with the blossoming relationship between Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco, who met at the festival. When they married in 1956, journalists arrived to report on the wedding, which coincided with the Cannes Film Festival. Since then, Cannes has eclipsed all other similar events and the Palme d'Or confers considerable prestige.Rolex Giraglia Cup - St Tropez Raced every year since 1953 over a variety of similar courses, the "Giraglia" has grown in stature over the years and has now evolved into the Giraglia Rolex Cup, a week-long regatta open to all offshore keelboats fitting into the permitted classes.Considered by many to be the "Fastnet of the Mediterranean", the Rolex Giraglia Cup is organised by the Yacht Club Italiano in collaboration with the Yacht Club de France and in particular the Société Nautique de St Tropez. Normally run in June each year, the event starts in the Gulf of St Tropez with inshore races, but from the fourth day, offshore, over a course that takes the fleet to Genoa in Italy via a rocky outcrop turn mark just to the North of Corsica that goes by the name of La Giraglia. |
